NAMM 2024: Pioneer DJ’s owner AlphaTheta has released the Wave-Eight portable wireless Bluetooth DJ speaker.

The Wave-Eight is one of two debut products launched under the AlphaTheta name since it was announced this week it would be retiring the Pioneer DJ stamp, with new DJ products now donning the AlphaTheta name. The other product is a portable all-in-one DJ controller, the OMNIS-DUO DJ system.

The speaker’s catered for DJs on the move, and acts as a good pairing with the DJ controller thanks to its SonicLink technology, ensuring minimal audio delay. Its transmitter also enables instant wireless connection, convenient for DJ parties.

Featuring an efficient Class D amplifier, an 8-inch driver, and Vortex Bass Accelerator, the Wave-Eight gives you professional sound that’s suitable for outdoor settings. Multiple units can be linked using SonicLink for stereo or subwoofer setups, with selectable Mono, Stereo, and Subwoofer modes.

You can listen to eight hours of music on a full battery charge, with an IPX4 waterproof rating for outdoor use. The speaker’s portability is enhanced with an extendable handle, casters, and grab handles, while the built-in pole socket allows for stand mounting for versatile placement.

It’s not the only portable item to be launched in time for NAMM Show, which takes place until Sunday. Yamaha’s SEQTRACK is an all-in-one music creation station that can be held in the palm of your hand. Korg has come through with the KR-11, a nifty, compact rhythm machine, a portable record player in the form of the Handy Traxx Play, and its Nu:Tekt DIY kit range has also seen a number of small devices added, such as the NTS-1 MKII and the Nu:Tekt NTS-3 Kaoss Pad Kit.

Also released at NAMM, Korg’s microKORG 2 is set to steal the show, and we’re also excited to see Supercritical’s first-ever synth, the Redshift 6.

The Wave-Eight portable wireless speaker is $899. Find out more at AlphaTheta.
