NAMM 2024: AlphaTheta, the parent company of Pioneer DJ, has launched a portable all-in-one DJ controller called the Omnis Duo.

It’s one of two debut products to be released under the AlphaTheta name for the first time, with the other being a portable Bluetooth DJ speaker, the Wave Eight. This comes after AlphaTheta announced this week that all new DJ products will now come with the AlphaTheta stamp, retiring the Pioneer DJ name.

The OMNIS-DUO lets you “turn any location into a party venue instantly”, says AlphaTheta. That’s because of its portability, with it weighing just 10 lbs and coming in at roughly 20 by 12 inches in size.

The OMNIS-DUO, with its notably indigo design “inspired by denim jeans”, compacts essential features you’d expect from a DJ controller, including a stunning screen, into a unit that you can “slide into a good-sized backpack and carry anywhere”, says the brand.

This controller has a two-deck and mixer layout that, at first glance, looks to adopt a standard layout with its EQs and faders. However, AlphaTheta has shifted the trim knobs from above to the side of the EQs, along with the Color knob, to make more space for the central touchscreen.

The touchscreen, as expected, lets you browse through your tracks and displays the waveform for each song you’re playing. It has a new simpler, arguably cleaner look with calling neutral tones when compared to Pioneer DJ screens, with rounded edges that reflect the round edges of the physical unit and Bluetooth, WiFi and battery information along the top. You can also flick between dark and light modes to suit your preference.

The built-in battery provides up to five hours of playtime, and eco mode extends battery life for longer sessions. The controller offers flexible audio output options including Bluetooth, XLR, and RCA, catering to various environments and setups. It supports multiple music sources such as USB drives, SD cards, and Wi-Fi, allowing easy access to tracks from PC/Mac or smartphone.

The Bluetooth audio input enables collaboration, while assignable control pads enhance performance capabilities.

The AlphaTheta OMNIS-DUO costs $1,499. Find out more at AlphaTheta.
