How Ableton Live’s Groove Pool can breathe life into your instruments
This week’s Ableton Live Tutorials video explores the effect swing and rhythm can have on your tracks.
In music, you may hear of ambiguous terms like ‘groove’, ‘feel’ or ‘vibe’ when describing a track or instrument. This essentially refers to the timing, velocity and humanisation of notes or patterns, which is easily achieved with real instruments and performers. Ableton Live 10 has a nifty feature – Groove Pool – that lets you apply a groove to software instruments and MIDI patterns, bringing an element of humanisation to electronic sounds.
In this week’s Ableton Live Tutorials video, Liam O’Mullane explores the templates in Groove Pool to assign to your MIDI and audio clips in real time, so you can audition many at once until you get the feel you want.
