Layering your instruments is a great way to add depth to your tracks and is quite a commonplace technique in music production. In this week’s Ableton Live Tutorials video, Liam O’Mullane demonstrates how Ableton Live 10‘s Drum Rack can make this process swift and clean.

In this particular tutorial, he uses drum sounds, layering clap samples and hard panning left and right to enhance the stereo width and complexity of the drums. By using Drum Rack and Instrument Racks, you can quickly swap out sounds, save and load kits and mix your drums in a convenient, cohesive fashion.

In next Wednesday’s video, we’ll be looking at MIDI Instrument and Audio Racks. Stay tuned!
