NAMM 2024: NAMM is officially here, and Avid – the maker of some of the world’s industry-leading music software – has announced a series of updates and product developments.

Most notably, Pro Tools has received a slew of new improvements, including new MIDI effect plugin support and MIDI signal flow improvements, new Avid Note Stack, Velocity Control,  Pitch Control, as well as Audiomodern Riffer 3, Modalics EON-Arp, and Pitch Innovations Groove Shaper MIDI effects plugins.

Additionally, a number of enhancements for Pro Tools Sketch – Avid’s clip-based editing and song creation window and iPad app, will be showcased at the NAMM show.

Elsewhere, Avid will preview new developments designed to deliver pristine audio more efficiently, showcasing Celemony ARA 2 technology to integrate the likes of iZotope’s RX Spectral Editor, Sound Radix Auto-Align, and SynchoArts RePitch into Pro Tools.

In other big news, Avid will showcase interoperability between Pro Tools and Sibelius, a new development designed to “save significant time” for composers and producers alike. As Avid explains, users will be able to copy music in Sibelius and paste it into Pro Tools, add MIDI automation and MIDI effects, then copy back to Sibelius for further orchestrating.

Avid is also expanding the range of platforms its products are available on; the company will also preview its Sibelius open beta for Android and Chromebook.

Also at NAMM, Avid will showcase its entire line of interfaces and hardware acceleration options, as well as the Pro Tools Dolby Atmos renderer. The latter will be available for demo at the Avid booth in partnership with Dolby, on Friday 3pm PST and Saturday 11am PST.

For those lucky enough to be heading to the Anaheim Convention Center this weekend, Avid will be in the ACC North Hall, Both #15102.
