The System Coupe is ALM/Busycircuits’ modular groovebox

Superbooth 2020: ALM/Busycircuits has announced the System Coupe, a complete modular system that brings together ten of its in-house modules – “some new, some staples, some proven classics”, as the company says.

The Coupe is loaded for deep synthesis, featuring capabilities in sound generation, modulation, sampling, signal processing, pattern generation and sequencing.

At the heart of the system is the Squid Salmple, an 8-channel audio and CV sampler boasting the flexibility to “create polyphonic voices, a super controlled delay or even a CV sequencer”.

Tailored for real-time performance, the Squid Salmple’s CV controls let you swap sample banks and parameters in a flash – especially handy in a live music making situation.

Jumpstarting the Coupe’s sample library is the inclusion of 700 samples “created specifically for the module.”

In terms of its sequencing capabilities, the system packs an ALM Pamela’s NEW Workout module – which syncs triggers, gates, envelopes and quantized CV sequences to a global BPM.

The Quaid Megaslope is the Coupe’s modulation module, which works in a five-stage Juno-style envelope mode, LFO or step sequence mode – which allows each step level and slide time to be voltage controlled.

Newly introduced to the system are some utility modules like the Milton, which amplifies signals to line level, a buffered Mult for duplicating signals, and the MCF – an analogue multimode filter with hi-, band- and low- pass outputs.

The Coupe comes in an 84HP powered case, and can be integrated into your existing rack modules as well. Its layout is vibrantly dressed up, and designed with an emphasis on creativity, flexibility and ‘fun-ction’.
