Erica Synths and Liquid Sky’s Dada Noise System II isn’t for the faint-hearted

Modular synth lab brings a sound generator with each module – even the joystick

Teaming up for the second time is Erica Synths and Liquid Sky, introducing the next iteration of Dada Noise System. The system is a combination of 12 of Erica Synths’ Black and Fusion Series modules, plus a Joystick2, which is a main component of the Dada Noise System II.

The sleek and powerful modular system is inspired by the Dada art movement, with a focus on creating abstract, sci-fi soundscapes and industrial noise. As Erica Synths puts it: “[Dada Noise System II] creates all kind of abstract organic analogue noise, ambient soundscapes, industrial noise, badass bass, spheric atmospheres, experimental unheard drones, sonic glitches and, of course, all kind of thrilling horror”.

Dada Noise System II’s recordable joysticks can automate sound and effects, with the option to use them as a sequencer and sound source. Joystick2 can also automate the Quadraphonic Surround Panner, an add-on for the system.

The QSP consists of two additional Joystick2s, two Mixer/Splitters, two Stereo Delays and two VCA modules. Erica Synths says this is ideal for audio post-production, game audio design and quadrophonic performances. Hear it in action below.

As every single module can function as its own sound source, the potential for sonic experiments is extremely vast. Along with the aforementioned Joystick2, the system includes Fusion VCO2; Fusion VCF3; Fusion Modulator; Black Stereo Delay; Black VC Clock; Black Modulator; Black Dual VCF; Black Quad VCA; Black Spring Reverb; Black Output and 25 patch cables.

Erica Synths and Liquid Sky’s Dada Noise System II will set you back €3,310, but could well fulfil the collaboration’s intention of “making chaos, noise, randomness and insanity controllable and playable”.
