To the elements be free, and fare thou well to Sequential Tempest, the drum synth co-created by Roger Linn and Dave Smith. It’s been almost nine years since the release of the 6-voice analogue drum synth, but Sequential has decided to send it into retirement and halt its production.

Tempest has been loved by a range of artists and producers including Rudimental, DELANILA, Boys Noize, Orbital and Radiohead. Those wishing to get their hands on one will have to act quick, then, or head to online marketplaces to grab one.

Dave Smith says in a statement: “Our users have put Tempest to a lot of really creative uses over the years. But a time comes when every good instrument deserves its place in the great electronic retirement community in the sky. On the bright side, we’re as busy as ever designing new products, and we’ll be telling you about some of these in the next couple of months. So stay tuned!”

In other words, let us not burthen our remembrance with a heaviness that’s gone. The team at Sequential still have loads more tricks up their sleeves.
