Behringer has teased a new sampler drum machine, the LmDrum, which is seemingly modelled on a stalwart 80s instrument, the LinnDrum.

The prolific brand shared images of the LmDrum on its Facebook page, explaining that the sampler drum machine has passed all audio tests and the user interface development is completed.

“We’d love to share with you the progress of our first sampling drum machine”, the post says. “We’re super excited that the unit has passed all audio tests today and much of the user interface development is now also completed. Man, this thing grooves.

“However, this is still a prototype and a long way from production.

“Rest assured that our drum machine development team is working overtime to complete this exciting instrument as quickly as possible in order to get it into your drumming hands.
Thanks for your patience and amazing support as always. You’re the reason why we do what we do.

“This is just the beginning and there is so much more in the pipeline. Stay tuned.”

Although Behringer has been somewhat quiet in recent months, it announced a slew of new products in the last couple of weeks. For instance, the Swing controller, designed specifically for the upcoming free Behringer DAW, has been released, as has a brand new Eurorack multi-engine oscillator, Brains. In addition, Behringer’s take on the legendary Yamaha CS-80 has been revealed, although it is not expected to arrive for some time.

There’s no word on the price or shipping date as of yet. Behringer’s RD-9, a take on the Roland TR-909, has recently started shipping after three years of development, with a price tag of £249/$349/€349. We have no doubt that the LmDrum will come at a reasonably affordable price, too.
