Antelope Audio combines a mic and audio interface in Axino Synergy Core
This condenser mic and audio interface combo is optimised for home and on-the-go recording.
Pro audio brand Antelope Audio has announced the Axino Synergy Core, combining a cardioid condenser mic and a USB 2.0 audio interface for a cohesive recording solution. The system integrates with Antelope Audio’s microphone Modelling Engine and Synergy Core effects platform.
Axino Synergy Core uses Antelope Audio’s proprietary Acoustically Focused Clocking tech to power 24-bit/192kHz audio conversion, plus 64-bit clocking and a 124dB dynamic range. The preamp found in the single-diaphragm mic borrows technology from Antelope Audio’s high-end audio. The inbuilt preamp is a hybrid of the discrete preamps found in the brand’s interfaces, and integrated circuit amps.
While the preamp and gold-sputtered diaphragm may be enough to capture high-quality recordings, the Axino Synergy Core’s Modelling Engine takes things a step further. The engine provides access to 18 emulations of revered, vintage mics, from dynamic designs to tube and FET condensers.
The Modelling Engine lets you choose from the Berlin 47 FT, Berlin 47 TU, Berlin 49T, Berlin 57, Berlin 67, Berlin 87, Berlin K86, Berlin M103, Berlin M251, Berlin V563, Hamburg 441, Illinois 7B, Illinois 57, Minnesota 20, Tokyo 800T, Vienna 12, Vienna 112, and Vienna 414. These sounds can be applied in real-time to your DAW when recording and mixing.
For hands-on configuration of the mic pre-mixer, controls for volume, headphone volume, a -10dB pad switch and a high-pass filter switch.
Post-mixer effects can be applied with almost zero latency with the Synergy Core platform, as all processing is undertaken within the microphone. The effects library includes Auraverb, BAE-1073 EQ, BAE-1073MP preamp, FET-A76 compressor, Gyraf Gyratec IX preamp, among plenty others.
All in all, Antelope Audio reckons the Axino Synergy Core is far more capable than your average USB mic. It will be available in Q2 of 2021 at a price of $399/€399.
