In Point Blank’s latest tutorial they explore mid-side mixing in Ableton Live

Mid-side recording was initially a technique pioneered by revolutionary engineer Alan Blumlein. Simply put, the concept splits an audio signal in two, allowing you to access the ‘mid’ (everything that’s the same in both speakers) and the ‘side’ (everything that’s different in each speaker) separately. This kind of processing can give you greater control over the stereo field of a sound and lead to some creative sound design options.

In a new video, Ableton Certified Trainer and Point Blank instructor Freddy Frogs looks at how to create your own Mid/Side matrix in Ableton Live and the creative applications of splitting your signals.
