Review: Faderpro Producing and Performing Live w/ Saytek
Say “yes, and…” to this accessible FaderPro course, which provides masterclass-level advice on how to improvise in front of an audience.
This engaging new course from FaderPro goes behind the scenes with producer Saytek to see how he builds his acclaimed improvised house and techno sets using Ableton Live and a host of hardware. The early chapters begin with an overview of the equipment and an in-depth explanation of the signal flow before moving onto setting up basic clips and MIDI triggers in Ableton’s Session view. There are further classes on creating your own loops, prepping audio, and programming clip automation, as well as a discussion on audio vs MIDI, and a conclusive chapter on incorporating hardware into the mix.
Saytek boasts a complex setup attuned to his particular processes but the UK producer still manages to make the course accessible and easy to follow, beginning with the basics before slowly adding expert tips gleaned from his many years of live performance. If you’re looking to perform using Ableton, this course is worth a watch.
