American music technology manufacturer PreSonus has unveiled a new USB mic, Revelator, designed to help you easily create recordings ready for radio. The new microphone is geared towards all types of home recording and voiceover work, with selectable polar response patterns and a range of presets that can be switched with one button on the front of the mic. Loopback audio is also easily achieved with the mic’s companion software.

Revelator is equipped with the same EQ and compression algorithms found in PreSonus’ high-end StudioLive Series III mixers. This can give you some impressive sounding results in a flash, without needing to fiddle with settings in your DAW and create huge signal chains of effects. Eight different presets are onboard to dial in your desired sound, with eight additional slots to create your own custom presets and make Revelator your own. The StudioLive Fat Channel controls in PreSonus’ Universal Control app make all this possible, as well as providing you with a range of vocal effects.

Loopback audio lets you reroute audio around your computer, and Revelator makes this a swift and simple process. This is useful in the event you have to record gameplay with audio and lay down commentary over the top, or mix and record audio from two different applications on your computer. Check out the video above for PreSonus’ full rundown of loopback audio.

Revelator has three polar patterns to choose from, including cardioid, figure-eight and omnidirectional, providing a recording solution for a range of environments.

With USB-C connectivity, the bus-powered microphone is compatible with Windows, macOS, Android and iOS, and comes with Studio One Artist and Studio Magic Software Suite to get you recording straight away. It also comes with an integrated desktop stand with built-in cable management for supreme organisation and placement.

PreSonus’ Revelator is available now for $180. Find out more at
