Helping to facilitate events in a post-COVID-19 world is the GRID app, proving its effectiveness in Germany at Kiesgrube Open Air Garden on Sunday 21 June.

Although being a newly released app, GRID has been in development for 18 months, with the team looking to create a solution that digitalises the hospitality and events sector. The concept of GRID was to enhance efficiency and personalisation in the attendance of events; checking in to a venue with your phone, ordering drinks and food via the app and paying digitally, while table-service keeps you socialising with your friends.

With the social distancing guidelines now in place, GRID became a pivotal tool for Kiesgrube in continuing its scheduled Stay Wild Moonchild events for the summer. Boris Werner, Wouter S and Tapesh kept the socially distanced party going last Sunday (21 June), and the likes of Pan-Pot, William Djoko, Detroit Swindle, Tom Trago, Lazare Hoche, Franky Ricardo and more are all set to appear throughout summer.

After a contactless order is made via GRID at Kiesgrube, hygiene-trained, mask-equipped staff bring the order to the table – the usual dance floor format has been changed to a table format with a maximum of eight individuals allowed per table. COVID-19 registration is also done via the app, eliminating the need for pens and paper to be handled by staff and attendees. There are also two separate events happening per day, each Sunday from 12 pm-5 pm, then 5 pm-10 pm. With digital ticketing and checking-in happening via the GRID app, Kiesgrube is able to regulate live the maximum number of visitors.
