RØDE aims for sonic brilliance with TF-5 small-diaphragm condenser mics
Designed with Grammy Award-winning sound engineer Tony Faulkner.

RØDE has debuted the TF-5, a pair of pencil condenser microphones geared towards high-end recording.
Conceived in collaboration with Grammy Award-winning classical music recording engineer Tony Faulkner, the mics boast some premium features. One of these is a brand new capsule that has been engineered to sub-micron tolerances, serving up “breathtaking sonic transparency”, according to RØDE. The mics are also touted to have more warmth than fellow pencil-sized competitors.
The TF-5 may be deployed as a main stereo pair or as individual spot mics. When used as a matched stereo set, the precision sonic pairing should make for a stable stereo sound stage. And their low noise floor of only 14dbA should make them suitable for ambient mic techniques. Additionally, the TF-5 can be deployed individually as spot mics to capture details of solo performances.
