Klevgrand’s Stark Amp Simulator is a sleek, simple plug-in and app for guitarists
Built on the Swedish company’s proprietary algorithms.
The latest software product out of Klevgrand’s corner is Stark, an amp simulator that’s built on the company’s proprietary algorithms. It is available as a plug-in for PC and Mac, as well as an app for iPad.
Stark consists of four modules, simply named Amplifier, Cabinet, Room and Pedalboard. The former three are built on the aforementioned algorithms which Klevgrand claims do not involve any “convolution”. The brand also touts that this approach lends to a more natural response in terms of frequency, dynamics, and better fine-tuning of each profile.
Additionally, the modules are designed to process audio individually, letting you combine them in any number of configurations.

Amp profiles
- 12 in total
- Clean and Overdrive modes
- Three-band EQ with presence
- Booster to dial in some end-stage amp saturation
Cab sims
- 10 options differing in size and sound
- Stereo width knob to simulate the distance between two mics in front of a speaker cone
Room sims
- Six in total, spread over small, medium and large
- Decay parameter governs the reflectivity of the walls
Pedalboard
- 14 effects, with four FX slots
- Arrange them however you want via drag-and-drop
Besides guitars, you can use the software with keys or an electric bass, too.
