AliveIn Tech’s Tranzient app lets you make beats in a cool VR setting
A VR live looping and sequencing suite with matching visuals.
Developer AliveInVR has released Tranzient, a VR app that promises an immersive beat-making experience.
The app integrates loopers and step sequencers into various VR scenes: a room, snowy plains or a futuristic rooftop are some examples. In these scenes, you can loop drums, synths as well as visuals. Your loops are also designed to be in sync with a track owing to the app’s auto time-stretching and pitch-shifting functions.
In addition to looping, the app also boasts virtual step sequencers which can be used to trigger visual effects and sequence both virtual instruments and drumkits. A record quantisation feature is essential with this kind of interface, meaning if you don’t quite hit the mark, your playing will still sound in time. If you want to add more groove, swing quantisation is also available.
Elsewhere, Tranzient features a virtual dual oscillator modular synth as well as audio effects such as reverbs and filters. Interestingly, parameters of both synth and effects can be assigned to 3D control, letting you engage in VR sound-sculpting.
To get you started, Tranzient arms you with a built-in 1.5GB library of loops and one-shots. If you require additional content, the app affords you access to third-party audio libraries such as Loopmasters’ LoopCloud. The icing on the cake is social VR, a beta feature which opens up the door for others to sit in on your compositions and jump in for collaborations.
