Rising star Whiney is the latest Hospital Records member to craft a d’n’b pack for Loopmasters and this one includes nearly 700MB of 24-bit audio in a range of formats. You’ll find 201 loops covering tight basslines, snappy drums and percussion and big synth melodies alongside a handful of piano, guitar and pad riffs. There are also 124 precision-cut drum, bass and effects one-shots with 39 accompanying sampler patches. The production is crisp, loud and no-nonsense throughout, meaning this pack lacks some of the more inventive and complex production we’ve seen in other d’n’b releases.
However, you don’t always need complex sounds when you’re building a track and in some respects, these solid loops and hits could work well as a counter to some of your own more progressive production techniques. It also allows space for you to get creative with your processing and effects.
