Rescore a Westworld scene and win £20,000 of Spitfire Audio software
Entries are to be judged by J.J. Abrams, Ramin Djawadi, Jonathan Nolan, Lisa Joy and Spitfire Audio
Elite British software developer, Spitfire Audio, has teamed up with HBO’s Westworld to present an exciting new competition with some extravagant prizes. As Westworld powers down for the season after its finale on 3 May, Spitfire Audio revisits a scene from the season’s fifth episode.
Aspiring producers, musicians and soundtrack composers now have the chance to rescore a car chase scene, with the winner receiving the Spitfire Audio Everything Drive, a signed Westworld vinyl and a prop from the set of the show. HBO will also make a donation on behalf of the winner to help fight the spread of COVID-19.
The judging panel is comprised of some highly-regarded figures in the TV and film industry – namely Executive Producer J.J. Abrams, Westworld creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, Westworld composer Ramin Djawadi and the team at Spitfire Audio.
The Spitfire Audio Everything Drive presented to the winner contains over 70 products, amassing two and a half terabytes of sounds worth over £20,000 when brought separately. This collection “offers inspiring, world-class sounds that are used by the world’s leading composers on everything from blockbuster film scores through to avant-garde records and cutting-edge sound design”, according to Spitfire Audio.
Five runners up will receive a copy of Spitfire Symphony Orchestra, ideal for creating symphonic works for TV, film and video games. The orchestra was recorded at The Hall in the prestigious AIR Studios, London, with Brass, Strings and Woodwinds performed by some of London’s top-class musicians.
To enter, participants can download the car chase sequence from Season 3, Episode 5 at the Spitfire Audio website. A ‘Getting Started’ video is available too, to offer guidance on setting up your DAW for scoring to picture – we also have a tutorial on this here. You are free to use any sounds you wish to create your composition. Once your masterpiece is finished, simply upload to YouTube with the tag ‘#westworldscoringcompetition2020’ and fill out a form on the Spitfire Audio website. The competition closes on 3 June 2020 at 23:59 BST.
