At the forefront of Universal Audio’s just-launched UAD Software v9.12 is a true-blue Neve 1084 emulator that the company touts as “a precise emulation of the coveted British channel module”. UA’s new Neve 1084 is designed to deliver top-notch Neve sounds, along with extended EQ capabilities and Unison preamp integration with Apollo interfaces.
UA’s emulation of Neve’s classic preamp and EQ combo faithfully replicates the vintage module’s complete dual-stage class-A preamp section, EQ circuit, and post-fader output amplifier. This level of detail stretches to include all 13 clipping points found within the original – great news for music-makers looking to achieve a distinctly 70s vintage sound.
Along with the emulated features – which will be familiar to some who’ve used UA’s previous 1073 plug-in – this 1084 emulation brings some expanded EQ capabilities to the table, letting you add ‘air’ or notch out frequencies with switchable, semi-parametric bands.
Integration with UA’s Apollo interfaces has been optimised to make use of its Unison Technology – which introduces analogue pre-amplification before the analogue-to-digital conversion process. Altogether offering the familiar front-end punch that the Neve module is known for.
UA has also included several presets from J.J. Blair, Chris Coady, Jacquire King for an easy jumping-off point with the software.
