Spitfire Audio’s latest LABS instrument features ambient pads and swells, derived from heavily processed single piano hits. Like other titles from the series, Piano Pads is being offered for free through Spitfire’s website.
Christian Henson, composer and co-founder of Spitfire, employed spring reverb, cross-fading, reversing and time-stretching methods to transform the timbre of a piano into something more ethereal.
The resulting tones can be accessed in an easy-to-use interface with just two sliders for dynamics and expression, and a large dial with several other processing options.
Piano Pads comes in VST2, VST3, AAX and AU formats. Take a listen to it below.
Last week, Spitfire Audio also launched Cinematic Soft Piano, a plug-in that features the same felted Yamaha U3 piano sampled for the brand’s free and massively popular LABS Soft Piano VST. The piano was recorded in AIR studios, venue for countless blockbuster score recordings – and one of Spitfire Audio’s go-to studios for pristine sample recording.
