AmpliTube 5, the latest version of IK Multimedia’s flagship amp and effects modelling software, has officially launched. This latest edition promises “true-to-studio” cabinet sounds and adds more than 100 new gear models, advanced routing capabilities and much more.
Your rig fantasies manifest
AmpliTube 5 features 129 new amplifier, cabinet, microphone, stompbox and rack effect models – which work in tandem with drag-and-drop routing. Up to three amps and 57 effects can be run simultaneously. Plus, there’s also support for wet-dry-wet configurations and both serial and parallel chains.
Legacy models from IK Multimedia’s Custom Shop are still compatible with the software; the Max edition offers access to a selection of 400 models, including all current artist and brand collections.
Cabinet sounds with “millimetric precision”
AmpliTube 5’s reworked cabinet section lets players aim virtual microphones at cabinets in a 3D grid interface. Through what it calls “Volumetric Impulse Response”, IK Multimedia promises “true-to-life” cabinet sounds with “millimetric precision”.
The technology involved the capture of 143,000 impulse responses, 600 for each speaker of each cabinet model. Players can also import their own IRs within the software.
Blend before you mix
A built-in mixer window lets players blend and polish their guitar sound so it’s production ready. AmpliTube 5 offers a selection of 19 rack effects – several culled from the brand’s T-RackS 5 – to give tracks added studio-like sheen.
Other features
AmpliTube 5 also updates its user experience with a fully-scalable graphic interface. Additionally, the AmpliTube Custom Shop, where players can buy new add-ons, has also been redesigned.
