Behringer teases LinnDrum clone while jamming MJ’s Thriller
The funky rendition of the 1982 masterpiece hints at new gear.
Behringer has uploaded a video showcasing the capabilities of its devices in a rendition of Michael Jackson’s Thriller. In the video, the brand also hints that it’s working on a clone of the LinnDrum, the original drum machine used on MJ’s 1982 classic.
Behringer’s presenter uses three devices to recreate the iconic beat: the Model-D for bass, the DeepMind 12 for synth sounds, and the RD-8 for drums. The result is a funky, synth-ier version of Thriller.
The LinnDrum mention comes around the three-minute mark, as the presenter suggests that a budget clone might be in the works. Although details are scant right now, the prospective device might follow similar form and layout considerations as the recently launched Odyssey clone.
