Logic Pro Quantize Swing

Musicians and producers often talk about the ‘groove’ or ’feel’ of a track. These terms may sound ambiguous but, more often than not, what’s being described is the offset of notes or beats from the tempo. That is, a hi-hat may be slightly off-beat or ‘off the grid’ to create a looser feeling. Logic Pro has a couple of clever features to make this an easy process.

In this Logic Pro Tips video, Jono Buchanan explores Quantize Swing and creating a Groove Template to change the feel of a beat. You’ll learn what the terms “swing” and “groove” refer to in music production, and how to apply it using Logic Pro’s Quantize Swing values. You’ll also learn how a Groove Template can be applied to both MIDI and audio files.
