With the launch of Ableton Live 11 came a new multi-effects device: Phaser-flanger. Essentially combining the Phaser and Flanger effects – and throwing in a doubler – the new device does a stellar job of warping your sound with time-based processing.

In this Ableton Live Tutorial, Liam O’Mullane explains how Live’s Phaser-Flanger works, as individual phasing, flanging and doubling effects units. You’ll learn how each parameter of the device can manipulate the sound of the effect, and how you can automatically modulate the parameters with LFOs and envelopes. You’ll also learn how to apply vintage flavours to the effect with the Warmth parameter.
