Season Five of the My Forever Studio podcast, brought to you in partnership with Audient, is here. For the season’s debut episode, we speak with Dot Major, London Grammar’s synth-loving percussionist and solo electronic enthusiast.

And, for the very first time, we’re giving you access to the dream studio fantasies of some fantastic artists in a limited-run video format. These episodes were recorded at TYX Studios, Tileyard London, home to podcast suites, content creator studios, recording studios, and even a fully-fledged Dolby Atmos suite.

Finally, you can hear – and see – the chaos created by our returning hosts. Yes, they’re back – our dream studio good-cop bad-cop investigators; the fantastic Chris Barker and Will Betts.

Kicking off the new season in style, we have Dot Major, the synth-loving keyboardist and percussionist for the iconic British trio London Grammar. He’s recently launched a solo project born out of his passion for electronic music and hardware instruments. As Dot Major, the producer is unafraid to hold back on rave-influenced sounds, gnarly breaks, biting acid basslines, euphoric pads and crisp modular squeaks and bleeps.

In the episode, we hear stories of lost gear rediscovered, a vintage synth unit that Dot Major has fallen in love with, his terrible file naming habit, the effect he’d be lost without, and how his one esoteric drum machine choice could see him through to eternity. Oh, and of course, the careful choice of a dream studio sofa gets a deep dive.

So far, Dot Major released three singles under the moniker – Bear, See This Through made with Alex Metric, and the huge Hideaway, which features on the Bose x NME C23 compilation. It’s clear that Dot Major is set to shake the rafters of UK dance music, establishing himself as one of the scene’s future stars.

The My Forever Studio podcast in partnership with Audient sees artists, producers and engineers create their dream fantasy Forever Studio, wherever they want in the universe. However, there are strict rules in the Forever Studio. Our guests are permitted a limited number of items in their creative space, so they must choose carefully. There will be nostalgia. There will be anecdotes. There may be gags. But there will be no bundles!
