The Loopmasters Vibes series returns for its ninth release, and this time turns its attention to the often-overlooked sound of 90s grunge music, with influences from iconic bands such as Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden. As with the other Vibes packs, the performances and production are spot on, and in this case it transports us back 25 years to a simpler time, with a blend of tough drums, chugging, distorted guitars, and shimmering, chorus-drenched riffs.
The sound is thick and heavy in some places, but surprisingly thoughtful and atmospheric in others, with echoing, reversed guitars and inventive, tom-laden drum patterns. There are 22 kits with some additional loops, plus a useful collection of hits and FX, with 49 accompanying sampler patches. Whether you’re looking to incorporate 90s rock sounds, or are a media composer in need of some new tools for inspiration, this is a unique and expertly made library.
