Lack of Afro, aka Adam Gibbons, returns with a new collection of five classic funk/soul song kits. There are 149 loops in total, and each kit is broken down into several sections so you can rebuild the whole track if you choose. Alongside a solid round up of funky guitars, rhythmic basslines, lively keys and horns, and driving acoustic drums and percussion, you’ll also find more unexpected Mellotron, Solina string and synth parts.
The performances are excellent throughout and each instrument has been well captured and engineered by Peter Mills at Middle Farm Studios in Devon. All the loops have been carefully processing for maximum warmth and character, which includes a health dose of reverb on many of the parts. This means everything is production ready with a professional sheen, but it also reduces the flexibility in terms of your own mixing choices.
