This new course from Producertech sees Rob Jones tackle the fundamentals of sampling across 22 streamed videos, with topics covering pitching and time-stretching, looping, envelopes, modulation, multisampling, keyboard zones and more. Once again, Jones manages to condense a whole topic into bite-sized chunks with a logical and easy to follow progression.

A range of samplers are shown including built-in instruments in Ableton and Logic, and also Kontakt, Battery, Maschine and Serato Sample, which helps to give the course a more universal appeal. It’s nice to have some creative and musical techniques presented while explaining the fundamentals, although if you already have some sampling experience, then you might want to check out the follow-on course, Creative Sampling Techniques, which features more advanced concepts and examples. All in all, if you’re new to sampling, you’ll be hard pressed to find a better introduction for under £20.
