This library from Beta Monkey Music features 60s and 70s rock ’n’ roll and Motown drums performed on a booming, vintage Ludwig Black Oyster drum kit, with 285 loops and fills ranging from a grooving 50 to an energetic 160bpm. The loops are either quite long with subtle details, or there are multiple versions with different variations, meaning it’s easy to build a complex, lively and flowing, full drum performance.
From beats with lashing rides, to high-energy tom patterns, the full range of the kit is used and all files are clearly labelled. Although there’s only one drum sound, this allows you to easily mix and match loops. There are also plenty of simple and elaborate fills and endings, plus 60 one-shot hits at different velocities, so you’ve got plenty to play with. Despite the rock ’n’ roll origins, the grooves here could also be used in a variety of productions, especially live soul and jazzy hip-hop.
