Respected Danish headphone company AIAIAI makes great headphones that are minimally distinctive and can even be completely customisable where you choose all the components yourself.

These Deviation Edition phones are part of that TMA-2 modular system and arrive in the kind of case that spies in 1960s films would use to assemble rifles. The parts have been chosen by Radio 1 and Deviation club DJ Benji B and come with both on-ear (for DJ) and over-ear (for studio) ear pads.

This is a lot of headphone – and rugged flight case – for the money. They sound great, as you’d expect; the over-ear pads are essential for more critical listening but the bass is still a little too prominent for truly accurate mixing. We’re not really sure what you do with the case after assembling them either, as they come with their own carry pouch. Maybe just flog it to any passing spies you know.
