Tidal updates DJ-related content with artist-curated playlists and DJ software integration
Amateur and veteran DJs can explore new acapellas, instrumentals and tracks to blend in their sets
Hi-fi streaming platform Tidal has refreshed its DJ content, with an entire module dedicated to providing DJs with new material to build their toolkits. The platform will also establish new partnerships with major DJ software developers.
During the last 18 months, Tidal says it has noticed an increase in the number of DJs using the platform’s integrated service for DJ apps such as Serato, Algoriddim Djay, and Rekordbox. Consequently, Tidal has announced that it is launching integrations with two more DJ softwares: Hercules’ DJUCED and Edjing Mix.
Hercules’ DJUCED is primed for beginner disc jockeys taking their first steps into the craft. Edjing Mix, meanwhile, is one of the top mobile DJ apps, making Tidal’s DJ platform more accessible to mobile DJs.
In addition, Tidal has a new series of DJ-friendly playlists, giving DJs new collections to browse for new material. This includes artist-curated, BPM-specific, instrumental and acapella playlists.
Tidal has provided three examples:
- Afrobeats Hits 100-110 BPM, boasting the hottest Afrobeat hits from the last few times, all between 100 and 110 BPM
- DJ Tools: Classic rap Instrumentals, brimming with old-school hip-hop beats that DJs can scratch and blend with flair during a mix.
- D-Nice: Club Quarantine, featuring tracks inspired by the talented D-Nice.
Subscribers can access Tidal’s catalogue of DJ-centric content now, with plans starting at $10 per month. To access lossless hi-fi sound quality, a HiFi plan is required, which starts at $20 per month.
Tidal’s DJ refresh follows Jack Dorsey’s Square Inc acquiring a major stake in the streaming platform, and Jay-Z joining the Square Inc board in March 2021. Jay-Z alluded to providing new material for musicians, saying at the time: “Artists deserve better tools to assist them in their creative journey. Jack and I have had many discussions about Tidal’s endless possibilities that have made me even more inspired about its future.”
