Superbooth 2019: Soma Laboratory Enner turns your body into the mixer

Soma Laboratory has earned a reputation for building inventive sound machines and Enner is no exception. With a name that is derived from a portmanteau of ‘inner energy’, Enner harnesses the natural conductivity of your skin to make connections and alter parameters.

Soma mastermind Vlad Kreimer was only showing an early prototype at Superbooth but the idea behind the device is that your body becomes the mixer.

There are three sound generation sections – tonal, rhythms and a bizarre electroacoustic unit that turn spring vibrations into sound design.

The sounds are then fed through a filter section that’s controlled by the position of your finger on a triangular pad, rather than a knob.

Aimed squarely at experimental musicians, Enner may also ultimately be available with an input for a regular keyboard.
