Steinberg’s Immerse gives you a personalised ambisonics experience for Cubase and Nuendo
Immerse, created in collaboration with Embody, uses AI to provide a personalised spatial audio solution.
Steinberg and Embody, a personalised spatial audio developer, have teamed up to create Immerse with VST AmbiDecoder, an AI-driven personalised spatial audio solution for Cubase and Nuendo.
With the help of AI, Immerse with VST AmbiDecoder takes into account the shape of your ears to create a Head Related Transfer Function (HRTF). This is essentially a personalised profile for use in ambisonics mixing and is created by scanning a photo of your right ear.
Steinberg and Embody say that an individual’s ear can be likened to a fingerprint, in that the shapes and folds of one’s ear are unique to every person. Previously, VST AmbiDecoder has been used to monitor ambisonic content using a set of generic HRTFs. A custom-made HRTF is beneficial in converting ambisonics to binaural audio, as the engineer can hear the clear spatial separation of each aural element with their own ears, rather than a generic set of ears. This results in an immersive mix with enhanced sound accuracy, sound quality and externalisation.
