Spotify Whats New

Spotify is launching the What’s New tab on iOS and Android iterations of its music streaming app. The new feature keeps you updated on new releases from artists and podcasts you follow.

Your personalised What’s New feed can be accessed by clicking on the bell icon in the top corner of the Home tab. When there is new content to listen to from the accounts you follow, the bell will sport a blue dot. You can add new artists and podcasts to your feed by hitting “Follow” on their pages within the app.

“There are 50,000+ hours of content uploaded to Spotify every day,” Spotify says in a press release. “So we know it can sometimes be difficult to keep track of the latest releases from your favourite creators.

“What’s New makes it easier than ever to catch all the latest songs and episodes from the creators you follow. Plus, it’s even updated in real-time, so you know you’ll get to listen to new content just as it’s released.”

Spotify has also included filters in What’s New, allowing you to check only for new music or only podcasts.

Last week, Spotify announced its collaboration with GIPHY to create shareable GIFs that direct people to an artist’s page upon clicking it.

Meanwhile, users of the music streaming service are eagerly awaiting the launch of Spotify HiFi, after it was announced at the start of 2021. Data miner Jane Manchun Wong even managed to locate some new graphics and settings of the upcoming service, indicating that it may be arriving fairly soon.
