Music software developer Spitfire Audio continues its Abbey Road Studios collaboration to create two virtual instrument libraries that epitomise cinematic sound. Abbey Road One: Sparkling Woodwinds and Abbey Road One: Legendary Low Strings offer epic and elegant sounds for your projects.

The original Abbey Road One: Orchestral Foundations library comprises recordings of a 90-piece orchestra in Abbey Road Studios’ Studio One – the studio that has been home to classic scores from genre-defining movies such as Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and Avengers: Endgame. Combine this with an array of award-winning sound engineers, top-tier microphones and exemplary performers, and you’ve got yourself one seriously luscious library.

Spitfire Audio’s two new virtual instruments build on this prestige, with more instruments sampled in the iconic studio.

Abbey Road One: Sparkling Woodwinds

Performed by highly-skilled London session musicians, Abbey Road One: Sparkling Woodwinds boasts lyrical woodwind lines that will help in capturing the magical moments of your movie. With legato patches, you can create energetic passages and sparkling phrases, along with the classic movie accompaniment of glockenspiel.

Sparkling Woodwinds features Legato, Longs, Short and Staccatissimo modes of playing. You can choose from 10 individual mic modes and two mix signals to fine-tune your sound and experiment with tonality. Check out the walkthrough video below.

Abbey Road One: Legendary Low Strings

Spitfire Audio’s Legendary Low Strings harnesses the intensity of the cello and bass to provide you with a virtual instrument that is “deep, powerful and sometimes threatening”, the creator says. This library is inspired by the standard orchestral repertoire and fantasy films, with immense long articulations and sudden, short notes.

This instrument can be used in Legato, Long, Short Staccatissimo and Short Spiccato modes, with up to 10 individual mics and two mix signals. Learn more in the video below.

Both Abbey Road One instruments are available as stand-alone libraries or as an expansion to Abbey Road One: Orchestral Foundations. They will sit inside the Abbey Road One host plug-in.

Each is available for £49/$49/€49, costing less than a full family trip to the cinema. The Abbey Road One: Orchestral Foundations library is on promotional offer in light of the new release, costing £299/$349/€349 until 11 March 2021, moving up to £399/$449/€449 thereafter.
