Shakmat Dual Dagger Bard Quartet

Superbooth 2020: Belgian modular synth manufacturer, Shakmat, announce two new Eurorack modules, Bard Quartet and Dual Dagger.

Bard Quartet

Bard Quartet is a quantiser module, with four programmable channels. Shakmat prides itself on its design choices here, touting the module as “easily adjustable”, pointing toward the intuitive keyboard along the side panel and an overall easy-to-use interface. Scale, octave shift and I/O assignment can be swiftly edited independently per channel.

Storing and recalling settings of Bard Quartet is made simple with the Harmony selector, making progressive harmonies, chord creation or any evolutive harmonic arrangement an “easy peasy task”, according to Shakmat. The module’s non-volatile memory contains 80 harmonic configurations, with micro-tuning featured onboard for more granular control on your music to create detuned harmonies. Better still, each note of each channel can be detuned independently.

Dual Dagger

The Dual Dagger is a “double-sided weapon, sharpened to cut low and high frequencies”, Shakmat says. More than just a filter module, the sharp-edged tool chops stereo spectrums with controls for the low-pass and high-pass filter section. Enabling Band Pass turns the dual filter into a band-pass filter, with sound-shaping controls over frequency, bandwidth and independent resonance for each slope. Although Dual Dagger keeps the same parameters across both audio channels, using the pan function can open up new realms of stereo manipulation, unlinking the cutoff frequencies of each side of the stereo image.

Shakmat will be premiering these two modules on Hainbach’s YouTube stream tonight (23 April) at 5:30 pm GMT+1. Tune in here.
