Serato Studio Hero

Serato has launched a public beta for its new DJ-centric DAW. Dubbed Serato Studio, this software aims to get DJs into the production flow with intuitive beat-making and mixing features. Here are the details:

DJ-centric workflow

Serato Studio Layout

Serato Studio features elements that DJs will be familiar with, including coloured waveforms, a mixing channel – with gain, EQ and filter controls – as well as cue points that can be used to trigger sounds.

Beats at your fingertips

Serato Studio Play in Key

Another focus of the DAW is easy beat-making. According to the brand, the new DAW provides over a hundred pre-made drum patterns spanning different genres. You can also make use of the software’s 808-style step sequencer to put your own patterns together.

Complementing the drum pack is a library of built-in sounds – instruments, loops and samples – as well as more than 30 effects presets.

Creativity without music theory

Serato Studio Play in Key

Serato Studio aims to equip you with tools that can be used creatively without music theory knowledge. An example is the Play in Key mode, which matches your instrument or plug-in to the key of a song and lets you play harmoniously, according to Serato.

Organising tracks

Serato Studio Scenes

To keep things neat, Serato Studio features intuitive layouts for organization. You can neatly divide your track into Scenes, with familiar segments like intro, verse, build and chorus. Additionally, the DAW borrows from the Serato DJ’s logging system, which lets you organise tracks into digital crates for easier recall.

Serato Studio should fit neatly into your existing setup, with compatibility announced for the Roland TR-8S, Numark Party Mix, Pioneer DJ DDJ‑SX3, Denon DJ X1800 Prime and more.
