Pioneer releases new DDJ-XP2 performance controller
An upgrade on its DDJ-XP series allows for Serato compatibility.

Pioneer has released the DDJ-XP2 controller, evolving its DDJ-XP1, which now allows compatibility with Serato, as well as rekordbox DJ. Also new is Silent Cue, Transport Mode, and 16-Pad Mode. Equipped with 32 performance pads, Slide FX, and flexibility of Hot Cues, Beat Jump and Slicer, Pioneer says “No matter which DJ application you’re used to, this DJ hardware will enable you to get more out of it than ever before”.
The new 16-pad mode enables you to assign 8 pads, each to two different features per deck. In Serato, these features include Hot Cue mode, Pitch Play mode, Sampler mode, as well as rekordbox’s equivalents and more.
Transport mode in both rekordbox and Serato will allow you to use the pads as transport controls to play, pause, cue, pitch up/down tracks and more. Silent Cue will allow you to instantly mute a deck and retrigger it with a Hot Cue.
The DDJ-XP2 is designed to be used alongside a CDJ or DVS setup, and allow for further creative expression in DJ sets. Pioneer recommends pairing it with their DJM-S9 flagship scratch mixer. See it in action below.
