You can now get Olympia Noise Co’s award-winning Patterning app on iPhone for free. It’s a versatile drum machine app that features MIDI output, Ableton Live, Ableton Link, loop export, randomisation, ratcheting and more. You’ll even get a copy of Ableton Live 10 Lite.

Patterning for iPhone is a circular drum machine, which makes a change to the linear beat machines we’re used to. You can create eight independent loops per pattern and use automation layers to add complexity to your beats. Automation can modulate parameters like pan, coarse tune, ratcheting, and fine-tune.

The app comes with a selection of built-in drum sounds, but you can download new ones if the factory sounds aren’t to your taste. Patterning for iPhone also has a MIDI clock to send and receive data with other MIDI-enabled instruments. An inter-app audio clock can hook up Patterning to other music-making apps on your iPhone. Ableton Link is also available to hook up to multiple devices.

When you unlock saving and exporting, you’ll get a copy of Ableton Live 10 Lite with the option to Export to Ableton Live Set. Alternatively, you can Export Perfect Audio Loops in WAV or AIFF, with stereo or multitrack output to use in any other DAW as samples. You can also Export Songs to Patterning 2, the sibling app available on iPad, with the option to import songs and drumkit from Patterning 2 to Patterning for iPhone.

Patterning for iPhone is available for free now on the App Store, but access to saving, exporting and Ableton features requires an in-app purchase costing $5.99. Find out more at olympianoiseco.com.
