“Meet the Hybrid Synthesiser. It has all the essential types of synthesis to create a wide range of sounds and instruments”. This is the introduction to Genesis Pro on Oz-Soft’s website. If anything, this might be understating the power of Ummet Ozcan’s new €1 synth; Genesis Pro puts subtractive, FM, phase distortion, multi-wave and ROM synthesis at your fingertips. Plus, three oscillators that can be stacked to create big sounds or split up to create different sounds across your keyboard.

The oscillators can be fed through eight different types of analogue-style filters, that can be routed in a variety of different ways. Genesis Pro boasts complex modulation possibilities, with two LFOs and two matrix slots with multiple outputs. Over 100 destinations are on offer, to truly evolve your sounds, plus four envelopes that can also be assigned to over 100 destinations with an ADSR routing menu.

14 built-in effects can be utilised within the Master section, including saturation, stereo imaging parameters, filtering and more. An Alpha Knob acts as a central control for whichever parameters you choose. An Intelligent Chord mode is also featured, in which one note will play several others to speed up playing chords, as well as an internal sequencer and arpeggiator.

So why is Ozcan giving this synth away for such a low price? Although he has contributed his own sound design content to other synth developer’s projects, he feels his DJ career has left him without time to give back to the synth community. Genesis Pro is now his contribution, and he wants everyone to try it out. We’ll be buying it once it’s released for sure – it would probably be mad not to.

Ummet Ozcan has taken to his YouTube channel to announce an official release date for Genesis Pro. It will be available from the 12 March 2020.
