Overloud Gem Mod

Software developer Overloud is giving away 1,000 licenses to its Roland Dimension D emulation, Gem Mod, every day until 27 September.

Overloud says that Gem Mod is a “hyper-realistic simulation” of the original Dimension D chorus effect used extensively on vocals in the 80s and 90s. It was often used by the likes of Brian Eno, Kate Bush, Talking Heads and more.

Gem Mod goes beyond the usual capabilities of Roland’s beloved chorus unit, of course, with features such as an input envelope that dynamically controls all main parameters. There’s also custom LFO shapes for nuanced modulation behaviour, and modulation rates that you can sync to your DAW’s BPM.

Overloud’s rendition of the Dimension D also features input saturation with harmonic generation, and control over speed, shape, depth and amount. There are also 10 presets that can get you started with a new chorus patch, along with A/B comparisons.

Gem Mod is usually priced at $99 and is available in VST, AU and AAX formats for macOS and Windows.

To claim your license for Gem Mod, you’ll need to create an account with Overloud or log in to your existing one. Then, click Download For Free on the product page and head to your email inbox to receive your download link and activation code. You may have to act fast to be one of the 1,000 licenses of the day, though.
