Output and Barefoot Sound collaborate on a stylish new studio monitor
Previewed at NAMM, the new monitors combine sophisticated cosmetics and high-level sound reproduction.
Output is renowned for its impressive virtual instrument and plug-in collections, most notably Arcade and Portal, and recently dipped its feet into producing stylish studio furniture. Now diving deeper into studio accessories, Output has teamed up with loudspeaker manufacturing expert, Barefoot Sound, to create sleek, high-quality studio monitors.
With an apparent knack for elegant aesthetics, Output took on the task of designing the look and feel of the speaker, whilst Barefoot Sound implemented its expertise in acoustics to the enigmatic monitors. Thus far, no specifications have been released, nor even a name for the product. What we can tell from the previewed models at NAMM is that the loudspeaker is dual-concentric, featuring a front-ported design. A spokesperson from Output also informs us the monitor will be available this year, costing $699 each.
At this price point, it’s evident that these will perhaps be for mid-level producers looking for a stylish and reliable monitoring solution for their studio. Those familiar with Barefoot Sound and Thomas Barefoot will know that the brand focuses on creating ultra-high-end speakers, so it’s almost with no doubt that these speakers will impress us upon release.
