Numark Mixtrack FX

Numark’s Mixtrack range gets two new additions with the Mixtrack Platinum FX and the Mixtrack Pro FX. With those names, it should come as no surprise that these DJ controllers place an emphasis on creative, professional mixing effects to please all levels of DJ.

As is the case with the global manufacturer’s previous Mixtrack models, these controllers are designed to be portable, whilst providing ample features to play in a venue with a laptop. With both models unlocking Serato DJ Lite, the brand says “these controllers establish new benchmarks at this DJ controller price point for delivering a full roster of features, great sound, ease of use and remarkable value”.

Mixtrack Platinum FX

As with the original Mixtrack Platinum, the Mixtrack Platinum FX gives you control over four decks, with track information displayed on the two jog wheels. The immediate difference here is just that: the two jog wheels now have a six-inch surface, offering more precise scratching and cue placement.

The capacitive-touch jog wheels feature rugged grooves on the sides to aid DJs in accurately re-aligning their mix. The high-resolution displays give information on BPM, platter position, pitch adjustment, speed position and an indication of how much time remains on the playing tracks. You can access decks 3 and 4 by tapping the deck select button nearby the jog wheels.

The Mixtrack Platinum FX’s main pull, though, is the six dynamic software effects coupled with 16 performance pads. The effects include echo, reverb, flanger, phaser, high pass filter and low pass filter, which can be deployed by their respective buttons in the centre channel strip. Dry/wet signals and the beat multiplier can be adjusted to taste, with dual paddle triggers onboard to deliver a seamless mixing transition. The 16 performance pads give access to cues, loops, fader cuts and samples.

Mixtrack Pro FX

Essentially, the Mixtrack Pro FX packs in all the same features as the Mixtrack Platinum FX, but over two channels as opposed to four. This includes the six quick-launch effects with dual paddle triggers, 16 performance pads, full 3-band EQ and filter knobs, and the six-inch high-resolution touch-capacitive jog wheels.

You’ll also have access to a free 3-month subscription to TIDAL Premium on both models, allowing you to mix with streamable content through Serato DJ Lite. Both controllers sport a 24-bit digital soundcard for premium audio output.

“With the new Mixtrack Platinum FX and Mixtrack Pro FX DJ controllers, Numark has redefined the performance feature set and ease of use for all DJs, whether they are just developing their skills or well-established advanced users,” said Chris Roman, Senior Product Manager for Numark. “The key here—as with all Numark DJ products—is fun. It’s fun to let your ideas and creativity flow with a controller whose features work with you instead of getting in your way. These new Mixtracks make you a better DJ, no matter where you are on the spectrum”.

Numark Mixtrack Pro FX and Numark Mixtrack Platinum FX will ship with an MSRP of £215 and £245, and will be available in May 2020. Find out more at numark.com
