NAMM 2020: Korg reissues the MS-20 monosynth in four colours
Revered MS-20 semi-modular synth returns at full scale and with a new lick of paint at NAMM 2020.

NAMM 2020: Korg has brought out many versions of the MS-20 monosynth over the years. There’s, of course, the original 1978 synthesizer that was produced for five years. And, if you’ve been around the block a few times, you may remember the Legacy Collection MS-20 Controller, the miniature re-issue in 2013 or even the 2015 limited edition full-size DIY kit.
The kit was such a success, that Korg is now putting the full-size MS-20 back into production in four fetching colours: military green, blue, white and the traditional black.
What’s more, Korg has actually fully assembled it for you this time, which is nice of them.
Apart from the new livery, the new MS-20s are “faithful to the original in every way” according to the Japanese company. The new MS-20 also lets you switch between Rev 1 and Rev 2 filter types, and nods to modernity with MIDI on 5-pin DIN and USB.
The MS-20 is sometimes likened to a stripped back ARP 2600, on account of its semi-modular design. And given that Korg has just announced their 2600 reissue, it’s interesting to see that the Japanese instrument maker isn’t only reissuing classic synths from other brands.
