Multiplatinum-selling artist and bonafide hip-hop legend Nas has announced a MasterClass on hip-hop storytelling, promising an intimate look into his songwriting process by creating a brand new song for the class.

The song in question, Big Nas, was unveiled with the announcement, alongside a music video directed by Ben Dean as part of the partnership with Masterclass.

In a trailer released to promote the class, which premieres on 14 October, Nas says, “I’m going to create a brand new song just for MasterClass, you’ll see my writing process in real-time.”

“I’ll be teaching you how to find your inspiration, find your flow, and how to turn your life experiences into music.”

The Masterclass online learning platform regularly offers classes from luminaries of various industries, and given Nas’ storied history as one of hip-hop’s most influential names, he certainly fits the bill.

In a press statement, MasterClass explained why Nas’ class is a must for aspiring rappers and lyricists, saying, “Nas shares his philosophy as a lyricist, breaking down how he used his life experiences and emotions to create incredibly raw yet cinematic lyrics with a message to inspire MasterClass members to do the same.”
