MOD Devices, the creator of the upcoming MOD Dwarf, has teamed up with Ableton-owned Cycling ‘74, best known as the team behind Max, a DSP software environment. The partnership is exclusively between the MOD Dwarf and Max, aiming to enhance producer’s and musician’s capabilities to create and experiment.

MOD Dwarf is touted by MOD Devices as a “one-stop effects processor pedal for guitarists”, and surpassed its Kickstarter funding goal in just one day. This will be the hardware involved in the collaboration, whilst Max, a visual programming language and software, will enhance the effects available on the Dwarf, transforming it into a smart effects processor.

MOD Dwarf, and indeed all MOD devices, is endlessly customizable, encouraging creativity and experimentation for users patching in their own sounds. Each patch can be saved, uploaded to a cloud and shared among an open-source community, which is where Cycling ‘74 comes in. The partnership will ensure continued compatibility between MaxMSP’s gen~ patches and MOD’s hardware.

The collaboration will ensure continued compatibility between Cycling ‘74’s unique MaxMSP gen~ patches and MOD’s next-generation hardware – a cross-platform integration offered first with the MOD Duo and Duo X and now with the MOD Dwarf, as one reward/offer for contributing to the unit’s Kickstarter campaign.

Cycling ‘74 Content Specialist Tom Hall said: “MOD Devices’ MOD Duo & MOD Duo X have been my go-to devices when wanting to incorporate my MaxMSP gen~ patches into an outboard workflow. They’re powerful and tactile and I’m excited that these possibilities are extended with the Dwarf.”

Gianfranco Ceccolini, the CEO of Mod Devices adds: “Among our rewards/offers for contributors to the Dwarf Kickstarter, the MOD Duo MaxMSP package, allows users to turn their ~gen patches into MOD Plugins and install them with a simple click. The Dwarf’s powerful processing capabilities and streamlined controls are the perfect tools to unleash ideas so far unrealized on the market,” said Gianfranco Ceccolini, the CEO of Mod Devices.”
