The Mackie ProFX12v3

Mackie has revitalised its best-selling professional effects mixer series for live mixing, recording, and live streaming.

There are six models available in the series ranging in size from a compact six-input mixer to a 30-input monster. Each ProFXv3 model sports Onyx preamps, high-resolution GigFX engines and 24-bit/192kHz 2×4 USB recording, all while maintaining the “Built-Like-A-Tank” design on which Mackie has made its name. Mackie, taking pride in the inclusion of their renowned Onyx preamps in these mixers, claim these will offer 60dB of gain and ultra-low noise performance.

With a two-in, four-out USB interface built in, it’s possible to create two custom mixes on your computer and send each one back into the mixer. This is ideal for monitoring playback when performing. Blending between monitoring your DAW output and direct signal input is achieved with a single knob on the mixer, which will doubtless be useful in the studio for overdubs.

Essential mixing tools are built into each model, including 100Hz low-cut filters, 48V phantom power on mic channels and Hi-Z switches for direct recording guitars and basses. Single-Knob compression will help keep input levels in check and 24 digital effects will help you put the finishing touches on your sound. For tonal control, the smallest model, the ProFX6v3 features a simple 2-band EQ, while the rest of the range offers 3-band EQs.

Pro Tools | First is included in the bundle (although this is available for free from Avid’s website), with 23 Avid plugins included from the Mackie exclusive ‘Musician Collection’, featuring an EQ and compressor bundle and a wide selection of effects. Tracktion’s DAW Waveform OEM is also included, giving you a choice of DAWs and plug-ins to use with the mixer.

Mackie’s ProFXv3 series will be available from next month, starting at $199.99 for the ProFX6v3; $299.99 for the ProFX10v3; $429.99 for the ProFX12v3, $649.99 for the ProFX16v3; $919.99 for the ProFX22v3; and $1169.99 for the ProFX30v3. Find out more at mackie.com
