The gear marketplace announced the service’s closure yesterday (7 January), in an email addressed to Reverb Sellers. The decision came after it “became clear that better, more robust website services already exist.”

“We launched Reverb Sites in 2017, hopeful that it would enable sellers like you to build your brand and your sales through a standalone, Reverb-powered website,” the email read.

A separate FAQ page added: “as a music gear marketplace at our core, we don’t have the expertise needed to provide you with a solution that is more effective than what an exclusive website service can offer you.”

Reverb Sites main draw was its integration with Reverb stores. If you were selling gear on a Reverb Site, stock and pricing information would carry over to your store. This also meant no double orders, and items would only need to be listed once in order to appear on both platforms.

While the website building tool is set for closure, it will still be possible to host a Reverb store on another website. A list of compatible integrations and e-commerce services can be found here.

Reverb has also acknowledged that the closure may disrupt Sellers who rely on Sites. Those concerned are encouraged to reach out to Reverb’s integrations team at
