Real World Studios Red Room

Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios has announced the opening of the Red Room, a room primed for smaller production and mixing projects. The Red Room offers sonic perfection with a “musicians first” ethos, the Real World team says.

The Somerset studio is renowned across the world, with everyone from Beyonce, New Order, Gary Barlow, Kanye West, Bjork and more making legendary music there. These artists would have laid down tracks in the performance-focused Big Room and Wood Room Studios. The new Red Room, however, is compact and ideal for songwriting, production, mixing and post-production. And it’s equipped with top-tier gear, too.

Along with a top-spec Mac Pro, two Pro Tools HDX cards and a load of powerful plug-ins, the Red Room features Yamaha NS10s controlled by a Grace Design M908, a Universal Audio Apollo X8, analogue SSL summing, a host of analogue outboard gear, an Avid S3 control surface, microphones from Real World’s collection and a felted upright piano.

Head engineer, Oli Jacobs says: “We wanted to give people as many reasons to come and work at Real World as possible, so it was obvious that we should select only the highest spec equipment to go in there”.

ADR post-production is available in the Red Room, with the second phase of development introducing immersive sound formats such as Dolby Atmos. This can be expected to be available towards the end of 2021.

Real World Studios’ Red Room bookings come with an on-call assistant for setup and troubleshooting, with in-house engineers, catering and accommodation available as required.

You can book the Red Room now at realworldstudios.com.
